First week back streaming
What’s up everyone! Thank you so much for joining me here. I am so excited that you’re here (as always)!
Let’s chat about the week that just wrapped up, shall we? Get comfortable!
Streaming!
I made my grand return to streaming! For people who missed last post, this is the first time that I’ve streamed speedrun practice, rather than attempts at a new personal best time. It was also my first broadcast since March 7th. It was ALSO the first time I’ve streamed from my new location in Pancake’s room (yes, we’re still referring to this room that I essentially live in as Pancake’s room…). Whoa!
I’m on a schedule now. I am streaming:
Tuesdays & Thursdays from 1230pm to 4pm (EST)
Saturday from 1030am to 2pm (EST)
I’m also keeping my schedule within the Twitch application updated on a day to day basis to reflect changes in stream times or content. By content, I mean whether I’m doing practice or timed speedruns. Stream times can change week to week based on what’s going on in my life. For example next weekend I have a board game night scheduled for Saturday, so I’m most likely going to stream on Friday or Sunday instead.
This past week I streamed pretty much the schedule listed above.
Tuesday August 18 from 12:32pm - 3:55pm (3h 23m)
Thursday August 20 from 12:37pm - 5:14pm (4h 37m)
Saturday August 22 from 10:21am - 1:49pm (3h 28m)
All three streams were nothing but practice. I think the sum is 11 hours and 23 minutes. I enjoyed it. It’s nice. I got motivation from people to keep practicing. I got to do some socializing to break up the repetitive drills. I found it pretty natural to talk people through my practice strategy as it was unfolding. Honestly, I love talking about practice strategies. I also enjoy practicing.
I’m hopeful that next week I will be streaming speedruns at some point. I could even see it being as soon as the first stream on Tuesday, if I’m able to dedicate enough time to practicing the rest of today and tomorrow. We’ll see.
In terms of other updates? IDK really. I read like three quarters of the first Dungeon Crawler Carl book and then decided I was over it and quit. It was a little sad because family friend Maggie is in the process of reading all of them and that would have been a nice bonding thing to do…but I just don’t want to read these book. I’m sorry. I haven’t started reading something new in its wake.
I have been getting back into baking a little bit, in part inspired by this new board game night that has been happening (it’s not recurring, but it’s about to happen for the second time). I didn’t get pictures of them but I made two types of cookies for our last game night. One was pistachio flour mixed with GF flour and topped with powdered sugar. The other was a flat crispy lace cookie made with almond flour. I will make sure to take pictures next time.
I did get a beautiful picture of this parmesan crisp I made though. Look at this gorgeous web of toasted cheese.
Also to anyone who isn’t aware of this, to make parmesan crisps you literally just bake parmesan. Like…that’s it. There’s no other ingredients - and look how freaking beautiful it is! Next time you’re craving some sort of processed chip aisle thing make yourself some parm crisps. We now refer to parmesan as a super food in our house.
Also sidenote one day Erika and I were kicking around some ideas for upcoming dinners as we were doing chores and walking around the house and stuff and Erika came up to me at one point and accidentally said, “you know Robbie, one vegetable I want to try to eat more is parmesan”, and we’ve been regularly quoting that ever since. SUCH an underrated vegetable.
Anyway I think that’s kind of it for now. I predicted last blog post that I would be posting really irregularly here and that it would be tied to how speedrunning was going, but here I am a week later posting, so who knows. Sometimes it’s just nice to post as a way to turn the page on last week and get ready for a new one.
At the same time though, I’m fairly bad at predicting my own behavior, so I won’t make any guarantees to be here next week. I’m unreliable. I do love chatting though, as do I love having you here, so thank you again for joining. I hope you have a terrific week. I believe you can manage your stress, find pockets of genuine happiness, and spread love to someone in your universe. We can do this.
