Felix the Cat Live
What’s up everyone. We’re back. This week’s update is going to be on the short side. I do not have the zest for it.
the latest in zest-draining
A few things are making me lose zest right now. First, my left ear is clogged. I can barely hear out of my left ear. In the grand scheme of issues you could have, I cognitively understand that this is pretty minor. It’ll probably be fixed by next week. But, I’m on day 3 of this and it’s officially driving me insane. I know, I know - it’s not like it’s cancer or anything.
The second zest-draining thing is that my mother has cancer again. She had lung cancer a few years ago, got it surgically removed, and was clear of cancer for a while, but it’s back, now in the other lung. I have a complicated relationship with my mother, which makes something like a cancer diagnosis also complicated. I am just taking things as they come in this area.
The third thing draining my zest - the weather. I can barely describe how exasperated with the weather I am. This has been the worst summer of my six summers in Pittsburgh by a lot. The humidity. Every day I dread going outside. I miss just being outside. I also have to go outside a decent amount, since I have a dog who needs walking. Being outside for even a single minute makes me angry. Yesterday Erika and I tried to go out to dinner at a popular place in Pittsburgh, and we would have had to wait like 20-30 minutes for a table. Normally? Yes - we wait and have a fun dinner together. In this heat? No fucking way. Being outside has been a nightmare for over a month at this point, and it’s ruining my mood.
Add to these three the standard, every-day zest-drainers. Politics, capitalism, and the depressing state of the world, and I just don’t have it this week.
Felix Goes live
One bright spot this week is that I live-streamed Felix the Cat twice. There are 61 times currently on the leaderboards. After my first stream, I was ranked #9. After my second stream, I scooched up to #7. I am sitting with a 23:37, and the top 6 times are all under 23 minutes, with #6 being a 23:00. The word record is a 22:35. So, we’re getting into the nitty gritty of it.
I have a good amount of meat left on the bone right now, so I will definitely PB at least one more time. But, at the same time, it’s a long 37 seconds to move up one more spot. Stay tuned to see where this Felix the Cat journey ends!
That’s it for me - like I mentioned, it’s a short post due to my lack of zest. I guess another way to look at this zest-less week is that I’m still here. I am still showing up and blogging. I still went live with Felix and got up to #7 on the leaderboards, I still lost half a pound. I still ran four 5ks. Sometimes you just gotta get through your bad weeks.
See you next time! I hope you have a great week; I will try to do the same. I believe in you.
